This award recognizes the exemplary leadership of the educator who demonstrates highest professional standards in leading and managing educational unit, department and organization both in private and government sectors in the Basic Education, Higher Education Institutions, and the Technical-Vocational Institutions. The candidate holds managerial position, top management officials, heads of a department etc.

Oxford Award for Excellence in Innovation

This award recognizes excellent innovators who have contributed in the academic community with their unique innovations in preparing instructional materials, proponents of models of teaching, designer of intervention programs and initiator of school-based or community-based educational programs. It also recognizes other innovations which can be used in the community and nation-building.

Oxford Award for Excellence in Business Administration

This award recognizes competent individual who display excellence in managing a business entity or unit. Candidates shall display high degree of competence in the field.

This award recognizes research contribution of the candidate in producing scientific study published in a reputable international scientific refereed journal. For authors, they must show proofs of published books and articles in a registered publishing company locally and internationally.

Oxford Excellence Award in Public Administration & Governance

This award is given to individuals who hold office in the government and deliver services to their constituents in accordance to the existing laws of the land.

Oxford Award for Excellence in Media and Communications

This award recognizes the excellent contribution of individuals by being responsible agents of truth and social media influencer.

Oxford Award for Excellence in Hospitality & Tourism Management

This award recognizes the contribution of individuals who display excellence and competence in this field.

Oxford Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship & Marketing

This award recognizes the excellent contribution of the entrepreneurs and marketing managers in increasing value of economy in their country.

Conferment of Honorary Doctorate

CRITERIA
  1. Upon the recommendation of the Search Committee for an Honorary Doctorate and the approval of the Board of Directors for Oxford Awards, a candidate may be conferred an honorary degree only in recognition of extraordinary and lasting distinction which represents the highest intellectual and moral values that reflect the character of the governing institution or organization.
  2. The awarding of an honorary degree is a recognition of a person whose life and achievements serve as a good example of the institution which can be emulated by the community and is worthy of high recognition.
  3. The candidate has contributed significantly to the cultural, scientific, and/or social development of the community, nation, or world. The contribution should be sustained over a period of years and should be lasting in nature. One should be able to document the national or international impact of the contributions. The mere holding of an executive position, public office, or professorship for many years is not sufficient. The creativity of the individual and the extraordinary character of the contributions must be evident.
  4. The individual receiving an honorary degree should have a sustained reputation over a period of years.
  5. The activities of the individual should contain outstanding contributions in scholarly research, teaching, and learning, the arts, public service, or business. The person might be a distinguished scholar in the natural, physical, or social sciences, the arts or humanities, or a distinguished person in public life, business, the professions, or the performing arts. Evaluation will be based on the level of intellectual and professional attainment and the significance of the contributions to the enrichment and/or welfare of the state, nation, or world.

Dr, Mario C. Lucero, SPBE has the following areas of expertise: Educational Leadership and Management, Curriculum and Instruction, Human Resources, Communication Arts (English), ICT, Research, Business Education, Fiscal Management, and Strategic Planning. He finished his Doctor of Philosophy in Education, Major in Educational Management in 2010 with a dissertation on The Hermeneutics of Principalship: A Case Study of Filipino Educational Leaders (Magna Cum Laude- Dissertation Grade) at the University of Santo Tomas.

He also took his Master of Arts in English in 2002 with a thesis on Computer Assisted Language Learning (Magna Cum Laude – Thesis Grade) at the University of Santo Tomas. His undergraduate degree in Education with a specialization in Science opened vast opportunities for him to become a professional teacher and school leader for almost three decades. He also finished 2 Post-Doctoral programs in Educational Leadership and Management (ELM) and Research.

He is an international world record holder of 4 international prestigious Books of World Records because of his poems on Covid 19 published at the Amazon, books, and journals in Asia, Europe, and America. He is known as the Global Poet for Humanity. He served as ambassador of many organizations in more than 50 countries, country head of many institutions and organizations, and director of organizations in Asia and Southeast Asian countries.

He holds 50 honorary doctorates from different colleges and universities abroad and more than 100 honorary doctorates from different internationally recognized organizations. He has written many researches and published in refereed journals. He is also a writer and author. As a graduate school professor in different universities, he handled courses in the master’s and doctoral programs in Education and Teaching English. He had taught in the College of Education, Graduate School at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, and became a Dean of the College of San Benildo Rizal.

He received a Degree Peerage as a Prince of the Kutai Mulawarman Kingdom, Prince of Bali Indonesia, and a Dato Radendo Sri at Beletung Kingdom He is a vlogger, principal of Springfield School –International, and the founder/president of Leadership in Education Academy and Development-Philippines and other 7 international organizations. Dr. Rommel Valencia Tabula

Dr. Rommel V. Tabula is the founder, CEO, and President Emeritus of the International Society of Teachers, Administrators, and Researchers, (ISTAR) Inc., an international professional organization established and existing under the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of the Philippines. He is also the CEO, Founder, and President of the International Alliance of English Language Teachers (IAELT), and the International Chamber of Authors, Reviewers, and Editors (ICARE). Being an organizational leader, he has initiated more than a hundred international conferences around the world, both online and offline. As an accomplished and noble international educationist, researcher, editor, and peer reviewer, he has been recognized by numerous institutions and organizations locally and internationally for his contributions to the fields of education, research, and publication.

Dr. Tabula earned his Ph.D. in Language Teaching from Lyceum-Northwestern University, MAT in English from the University of Northern Philippines, and AB in English Literature and BSED major in English from the University of Baguio. Currently, he is pursuing another Ph.D. specializing in Research and Development from St. Paul University Surigao.

In the Philippines, he worked as Assistant Professor IV and Research Coordinator at Mariano Marcos State University, Research Editor and Instructor at the University of Northern Philippines, Cultural Affairs Coordinator at Central Luzon State University, and Instructor at Baguio Central University.

In Thailand, he worked as an EFL teacher and trainer at Inburi Moral School, prior to his recent appointment as a researcher and teacher of English at Tessaban Khlong Tumru School under the Bilingual Education Project of Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Education. He also served as a University Lecturer/English Language Specialist at Mahasarakham University, TESOL Specialist, researcher, and trainer at the Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Tak, and an EFL Teacher at Phadungpanya World-Class Standard School.

Dr. Rommel V. Tabula has been conferred with three honorary doctorate degrees: Doctor of Educational Administration and Leadership (DEAL), Doctor of Research Management and Development (DRMD), and Doctor of Arts in Language and Communication (DALC). He was also conferred the title of Fellow of the Royal Institution of Educators (FRIEdr) by the Royal Institute of Singapore. He was also appointed as Country Head of the Mahatma Gandhi Global Peace Forum, in India. He has traveled to several countries in Asia to serve as a speaker at conferences organized by various learning institutions and professional organizations. He has published 11 researches and has gained 14 citations with an h-index of 2. His research interests revolve around sociolinguistics, contrastive rhetoric, stylistics, Ilocano morphology and syntax, Philippine Literature, and community journalism.

Through his efforts and dedication, CDSGA gained extensive partnerships with various important agencies such as Commission on Higher Education Region 3 and Technical Education Skills Development Authority Region 3. These linkages opened avenues for CDSGA in terms of scholarship grants under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (R.A. 10931). He is happily married with Dr. Remedios R. Uriarte to whom he had two wonderful children.

  • Dr. Surendra Kumar Sharma is a seasoned educationist and researcher for over 40 years who has been selected for the ‘Life-Time Achievement Award in Education & Research’- one of the key categories of Oxford Awards 2023 (organised by London Study Group, U.K.). He graduated in Physics (honours) from Banaras Hindu University, and later completed Masters in Economics in 1979. Later he was offered a Ph.D. in Econometrics Programme by the LSE; but because of financial constraints, he could not avail of the opportunity.

    Naturally, he joined PhD in Economics at BHU and submitted his thesis on “Population Trends in India with reference to some of their Implications” under the supervision of Prof. D. K. Mishra. His PhD thesis was awarded in 1984. One of the external examiners who commended the award was Dr Ishrat Z. Husain, Division Chief, Health, Education, and Nutrition of World Bank. Since then, Dr. Sharma has been involved in teaching and research in various colleges. He has both academic and administrative experience in conducting national-level seminars on challenging issues that India faces in particular and the world in general.

    Some of the national seminars he convened were “Impact of Economic Policy Reforms on North Eastern States of India” at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, from 27-31 March, 2000, and “Changing Scenario of Higher Education: Conventional versus Professional Courses” during 20-21 May 2012 at Government Girls’ PG College, Ghazipur of Uttar Pradesh. As the Principal, he always felt that his first responsibility was to provide an enabling environment not only to our students but also to our teachers and supporting staff to give them the maximum benefits of higher education.

    He also served as Regional Director of Indira Gandhi National Open University in Patna for two years. He was the founder Regional Director (in charge) who established the Regional Centre at Patna in 1991. He coordinated the academic and administrative functions with all IGNOU study Centres and IGNOU headquarters in New Delhi. He organized many orientation programmes for the academic counsellors of various programmes of IGNOU at Patna. He was highly successful as he proved the relevance of “distance education” by writing different articles in the ‘Times of India’ and leading ‘Hindi Dailies’.

    As Additional Secretary of UP State Higher Education Council, Lucknow, during 2004-05, his responsibility was quality gradation in higher education. He convened many orientation programmes for the Principals of Colleges for assessment and accreditation of their colleges by NAAC, Bangalore. He was also convener of ‘the board of studies’ and also on the ‘research degree committee’ of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur of India.

    Four female students were awarded PhD in Economics on “Population Growth and Economic Development” from 2007 to 2014 under his supervision while he served as Principal of Government Girls’ PG College, Ghazipur. After retiring in 2016, he did not lower his craving for knowledge. With more vigour, he started his participation in ARICON. He contributed a research paper on “Economic Consequences and Overall Implications of BJP Rule in India during 2014-19” in ARICON on Business and Economics at Cambridge during 18-19 November 2019. This was later published in JIBM in 2020. ‘India’s development vis-à-vis developed countries of the world’ is at the core of his heart. He has an unassuming personality. He is a humanist and helps his students in their studies and research activities.

    Dr Amna Umer Cheema is a PhD in Modern American poetry from the University of Leeds, UK. She is an Elizabeth Bishop scholar. Her cross-disciplinary research in Elizabeth Bishop’s studies led her to her rather recent fascination for Digital Humanities (DH). In 2019, for the first time in any Pakistani University, she introduced the subject of Digital Humanities at the Institute of English Studies, University of the Punjab. Before this time, the subject was never included in any curriculum at a Pakistani university, both state and private.

    Since 2019, she has been teaching the course titled “Introduction to Digital Humanities” to MPhil students and supervising humble research in this field due to the shortage of hi-tech facilities in a state university. During these years, she has received mixed responses from her students and colleagues. The general distaste came from those who feared losing the traditional landscape of humanities or saw it as a way of surveilling the colored people in the Global South.

    Through teaching this course, she has tried to address these problems. By introducing interesting debates about DH, she tried to change the lens of her students, and members of her fraternity. She reached out to the champions of individualism who were unable to visualize the concept of sharing knowledge and collaborating on research.

    By exposing university students to international projects in humanities and English literature, she inspired them to develop their own research projects that are meaningful for her society and the global community. She made them think beyond their bounds to have a cross-disciplinary approach so that they could reach out to the people working in STEM subjects and contribute to public humanities. Largely, her DH class encouraged students to be humane all the time and indulge in constructive discourse among peers by practicing honesty and building trust.

    Through DH, she introduced convergent practices that lead to multidisciplinary research within areas of digital poetics, material sciences, discovery sciences, and social sciences. Due to DH, her literature students have started engaging with laws of thermodynamics, manifestations of entropy, literary video games, etcetera. Identifying DH as a transdisciplinary area of computationally engaged teaching and research, she stimulated her Institute’s first Digital Humanities thesis project in modern American poetry.

    Currently, she has supervised research on Europa Universalis IV games as a method of reinterpreting history. In 2022, she initiated the Institute of English Studies’ personalized website (www.instituteofenglishstudies.asia). With this, she launched the Institute of English Studies’ official podcast on digital storytelling – ‘A Room with a View’ (2022), and ‘The Stories We Are: Excursions to Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan and Sindh’ (2023). Her vision is to keep encouraging students of humanities to look beyond traditional options and develop skills that can expand their career opportunities in a competitive job market.
